At the end of August this year, we decided to take a trip to three islands of Hawaii: Kona on The Big Island, Honolulu on Oahu, and Maui.

Maui was our last destination of my family's vacation and it was absolutely amazing and our favourite of all three islands. It felt magical and it is definitely a must-go!

The resort that I stayed at is Hotel Wailea. (Link will open in new window.) It is perched on top of a hill overlooking the ocean and the view of the sunset is stunning. Although it is not a huge resort, I felt it was more private and very relaxing. The staff were very friendly and helpful!

We went to Iao Valley because it was not that far like Mt Haleakala as we had limited time on the island. The landscape of the valley was remarkable...it was almost as steep as a double black diamond run on the ski slopes! All in all, the experience was very relaxing and fun! Definitely recommend going to Maui!

Hi Alice!

Thanks so much for sharing your story! The Hotel Wailea (Link will open in new window.) is definitely a quality place! With only 72 suites, it's a smaller property - but that can be a good thing if you want a setting without too much hustle and bustle like some of the larger resorts in Maui!

As for Iao Valley State Park, one of the things that I thought was great about it was the fact that even though you could tell the hillsides were very steep, the roadways themselves were easy to drive, and didn't feel steep or treacherous in the slightest!

On your next trip, you'll have to check out Mt. Haleakala... even though it's a bit of a drive, it is totally worth the effort, and completely different from anything else you'll see on Maui!

Thanks again for sharing your story!
