Only one passenger airline offers flights to Hana, Maui: Pacific Wings.

They are a small commuter airline specializing in short-haul flights (so no flights from the mainland!) They offer routes to Hana from the following airports:

• Kamuela and Kona on The Big Island
• Hoolehua and Kalaupapa on Molokai
• Kahului and Hana on Maui
• Honolulu on Oahu

Note: All prices you'll see me quote below are current at the time of this writing in June 2012. But of course, you know the airlines, prices could change. In any case, it should give you a good idea of what to expect, and I've included links for you to search for today's prices which I hope you'll find handy!

Fly from Kahului, Maui to Hana

Up until Oct. 1, 2012, a flight to Hana, Maui from Kahului will cost you about $250 one-way, or double that for a return flight.

But if you'll be traveling to Hana on or after October 1, 2012, you ought to be able to find flights to Hana for about half that price thanks to Mokulele Airlines. You've gotta love it when prices are slashed in half like that!

How long does it take to fly from Kahului Airport to Hana?

It's super quick and only takes about 15 minutes.

Fly from the Big Island of Hawaii to Hana

You have a choice of flights to Hana, Maui from either Kamuela or Kona.

If you choose Kamuela, you have to book a flight from Kamuela to Kahului which costs about $250 one-way. Then, you have to book a second flight from Kahului to Hana which will set you back another $250 or so.

But there's better, much cheaper way of doing this...

You'll find a much better rate if you book a flight from Kona to Hana. This is a bargain since all it'll cost you is around $82 AND it's a direct flight, meaning no stopover in Kahului. (I found this rate by calling Pacific Wings directly at 1-888-575-4546.)

How long does it take to fly from the Big Island to Hana Airport?

It takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Fly from Honolulu, Oahu to Hana

Flights to Hana, Maui from Honolulu are a tad pricey compared to our Kona bargain since you can't fly direct. You'll have to book 2 flights: Honolulu to Kahului for around $85 one-way, then Kahului to Hana for about $250 one-way.

For the flight from Honolulu, you'll have a choice of Mokulele Airlines, Island Air, Hawaiian Airlines and Pacific Air. For the flight from Kahului to Hana, the only option at the time of this writing is Pacific Air.

How long does it take to fly from Honolulu to Hana Airport?

The flight from Honolulu to Kahului takes about 35 minutes; Kahului to Hana takes about 15 minutes.

Fly from Molokai to Hana

Flights to Hana, Maui from Molokai are similar to the Honolulu route because you have to go through Kahului, making it rather expensive.

For one-way flights from Molokai to Kahului, I've seen prices as low as $65 and as high as $248. And of course, your Kahului to Hana flight will set you back another $250 or so.

Tip on flying from Molokai to Maui: There are 2 airports on Molokai, Hoolehua and Kalaupapa. It is typically cheaper to fly out of Hoolehua.

Airlines that can get you from Molokai to Kahului are Island Air, Mokulele Airlines and Pacific Wings.

How long will it take to fly from Molokai to Hana Airport?

It will take about 25 minutes to fly from Molokai to Kahului, and another 15 minutes to fly from Kahului to Hana.

Fly from Lanai or Kauai to Hana

There are no direct flights to Hana, Maui, from the islands of Lanai or Kauai.

However, you could go with Mokulele Airlines from Lanai City to Kahului for around $55, and then book your Pacific Wings ticket from Kahului to Hana after that.

How long will it take to fly from Lanai to Hana?

It'll take about 25 minutes to fly from Molokai to Kahului; Kahului to Hana is about 15 minutes.

If you'll be coming from Kauai, you can book a ticket to Kahului with either Island Air, Mokulele Airlines or Hawaiian Air. Prices are around $110. And of course, don't forget to budget for Kahului to Hana after that!

How long will it take to fly from Kauai to Hana?

It'll take about 45 minutes to fly from Lihue Airport to Kahului and another 15 minutes from Kahului to Hana.
